Chief Instructor: Tina Deans
Tina Deans has been changing lives for over 30 years. She will tell you her purpose in life is simple: "To give people the chance I was given in life."
When 30 years of classroom teaching experience collides with 30 years of the highest level karate training, you can guarantee a set of unique skills. Tina Sensei holds a 5th Dan black belt and is a past British, Queensland and Australian Open Champion. She operates her own not for profit dojo in North Lakes, Queensland.
As a counsellor during the day Tina's professional skillset transfers to ensure the dojo is a welcoming space operating in a trauma informed, inclusive and empowering manner. She is a fierce advocate for empowering students by teaching the deeper lessons of the Martial Art - self regulation, emotional resilience, tenacity, personal discipline and self-control.
Tina views karate not as a sport but as a way of life. The karate journey is unique to each individual whether it be international level competition, confidence building, bullyproofing children, a new hobby or a lifelong journey to develop good character. It is a deep and richly rewarding experience when guided by a good Sensei and walked with a strong karate community who become akin to family. Tina Sensei is forever grateful to her own Sensei and karate family who changed her life 30 years ago and continue to influence and shape the person she is today. She strives to continue that legacy contributing and supporting her own students throughout their lives.
